Attention Engineers Licensed in Florida – Change in Requirements

For engineers licensed in Florida, 18 hours of continuing education (CE) are required biennially for renewal by 2/28 of odd years.

These 18 hours must include the following:
-1 hour Ethics**
-1 hour Laws & Rules**
-16 hours Technical*

*1 hour of Advanced Florida Building Code training is required for licensees actively participating in the design and engineering works or systems in connection with buildings, structure of facilities and systems covered by the FBC Code – effective 7/1/15. This hour will count towards your technical requirement.  There are currently 3 courses for 3 hours covering the 2014 Florida Building Code Advanced 5th Edition:
-RV-10746AW  Accessibility, Scoping Requirements
-RV-10745AW  Accessibility, Application and Administration
-RV-10782 AW Mechanical Summary of Significant Changes

** The required Ethics and Laws & Rules courses must be pre-approved by the FBPE. The board is in the process of developing their pre-approval process and application. RedVector has developed courses to meet this requirement and will submit them to the Board as soon as the application is available.

RedVector will report the completion of the 1-hour FL Advanced Building Code course to the Florida Board of Professional Engineers (FBPE). However, all other CEs taken will not be reported to the Board per their request.

If you are seeking online continuing education hours or have any questions about these courses, contact an educational advisor or our client support department today.
